For my EDU PL 271 class I have to volunteer at Project Open Hands. This organization provides counseling and a pantry for HIV/AIDS patients in the columbus area. Over the quarter I have to volunteer for 30 hours. I was apprehensive at first because it is out of my comfort zone but all of the people I will be working with are very nice and try to explain what I will be seeing. Some of the patients are what you would expect, but there are many patients that you would never suspect to have to use services from a program like this.
I think it is great that you are working with this program. I am sure it is really making a difference for those people involved. I think we learn more sometimes when we are out of our comfort zone. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeletep.s.-- like your background :-) guess we both have good taste! haha
